Howto: Private Name Servers (own DNS)
Posted by WestNIC Support on 29 August 2006 12:58 AM

You may get own name servers instead of WestNIC's and; whois search will show your name servers, not ours. This feature is available to all resellers, ePRO customers and semi-dedicated servers. Please follow these steps:

  • Please request 2 free dedicated IPs for private name servers via support desk: (DNS department). You have to include: a) name servers you wish to register, b) server ID. Please note: you can register private name servers for main domain name only. It's impossible to register more than 2 name servers (unless you have more than one account).
  • As soon as you get two IPs, you may proceed with DNS registration. This must be done within domain registrar control panel. If you registered main domain name through or godaddy, please follow this tutorial:
  • Please wait for 3 days for full dns propagation then update same ticket. Simply let us know that you've completed dns registration.
  • We will add registered name servers to your control panel within 24 hours.

If you wish to use private name servers, please do not add new accounts during registration process. You should complete dns registration then add accounts using WHM (main control panel).
